Q: Has anyone know if relpax is better than imitrex?
Imitrex works for me but I wonder if relpax is cheaper, should I try it instead….

A: It is hard to say which will be better for you. I tried Relpax first & it didn’t do anything for me. Imitrex works for me but I get lots of undesirable side effects. However, I don’t recall that Relpax was any cheaper than Imitrex. Good luck!

Q: relpax for migraines..how does it affect you?
I take this occasionally for migraines but it makes me quite “loopy” and out of it for 8 hours or so afterwards. I also get really tired. is this normal?… or this just post-migraine symptoms?

A: Im 17 and i get migraines about twice a month. And every time I have one, I have to get an injection of heavy painkillers. But if its just a minor migraine, I feel drousy and ill for at least 24 hours. My mum gets them too and we call them “migraine hangovers”.
I think its pretty much just your body readjusting to the state it was before you had the migraine.
Migraines do knock your body about alot.

Q: can Metronidazole and relpax be taken together?

A: Yes the can.

Q: can i take cymbalta if i’m taking imitrex and relpax for migrains?

A: I’m on Cymbalta, and I’ve been prescribed (at different times) Imitrex and Relpax, and my doctors never said anything about possible interactions, so I’d say unless your doc tells you otherwise, it should be fine.

Q: relpax and tylenol together?
hi, is it okay to take my 2 tylenol extra strength for my foot pain, and 1 prescribed relpax for my head, at the same time? (105 lb girl, 5 ft, 14 years old). THANKS

A: Sasha,I don’t see why not, just make sure that you have something in your stomach when you do this.Tomb Raider.

Q: Migraine sufferers: Anyone get rid of them completely or significantly reduce the reoccurence of migraines?
If so, please share how. I have been suffering from Migraines for 10 years. I take Relpax and it helps, but the side effects are scary–makes me very drowsey, light headed, and winded.

I get them once a month (and sometimes more) I have tried to find the triggers, but just cant get rid of them. I am already on the pill also. This is supposed to help, but either way– on it, or off it , I get migraines.

A: Yes, pl see what suits you.
If you are in cold country use all warm things.
Pl try cold water bath and observe if in hot country, if pain increases use warm.
If you have cough/cold body hot water bath will help.
Massage and exercise in front of morning sun is good thing, pl try.
Pl try simple acupressure given below for immediate relief.
If it fails you will have to go for Acupuncture.

There is hardly any medicine for H/A OR MIGRAINE. Not only these but for RA, OA, Back ache, Ear ache/ringing, Stomach ache and almost all painful diseases. Hence they become chronic.

Acidity, WORRY, sadness, excessive wind, cold , heat, sour food and sinusitis, constipation, intestinal inflammation; drug side effects, stress, bad smell, TV & COMPUTER SOMETIMES, Blockage in the flow of Vital Energy, BODY CONSTITUTION etc are their causes.
None of them can be treated with medicine.
Our 100% success in treating migraine &H/A confirms it.

Acupuncture is the best treatment.
I can treat it with naturopathy and YOG, but how can you manage pl see.

Pain killers don’t treat the pain but we loose the sense of pain for some time; in that duration our body itself treats sometime and credit goes to meds.
The useless drugs have tremendous power of side effects like liver/kidney failures, ulcer, inflammation of intestines and lot more.

Avoid late sleeping if possible; worry, tension, spicy foods, sour fruits, stale bakery foods, SMOKING and alcohole.

Sweet foods, COCOANUT WATER,sweet fruits like dates, milk, rice, SPROUTS, SALADS and good sleep will help if cough is not there.

But you try one herbal remedy- two drops of drumstick leaves’ juice in opposite nostril if one side pains and both nostrils if full H/A will give you rescue. Betel leaf helps but it is very strong.

If it is acute pl search a painful point (with round tipped pen/jimmy) 3-6 mm behind your thumb nail and press it, H/A will disappear within 30 seconds.

For forehead/eye pain the points are in front of nails on the finger tips or 3-7 mm below.

It may disappear naturally too.

Q: Can you mix adderall with Relpax?
I’m prescribed both adderall and relpax (for migraines). Today i had a major migraine, and sometimes my migraines rebound the next day. I don’t take my adderall everyday, (in fact i skip/forget all the time) but tommorows a major exam and am gonna need it, so on the chance i have a rebound migraine tommorow, does adderall and relpax mix well?

(can you ask any pharmacy about this?) i know you could ask a doctor, but ironically i broke my phone yesterday and have no one, not even my parents numbers memorized

A: no i would not do that, they both work on “serotonin” taking them together could cause serotonin syndrome, and thats not fun..and adderal is Dextro-AMPHETAMINE.you would be better off smoking Meth-AMPHETAMINE

Q: Why is Midrin the only thing that has ever worked for my severe cramps?
I discovered this when I used to have really bad migraines. It didn’t work as well for the migraines as some of the more modern treatments such as Frova and Relpax. It totally alleviated my cramps.

And is there anything similar or natural that could achieve the same effect?

A: muscle relaxers are best
but resting with your feet up can help

Q: Can Topamax make you fail a UA?What about a false positive?
I tested positive for barbiturates but I haven’t taken anything…I do take Topamax (daily) and Relpax or Maxalt as needed. Please Help!

A: I have never had that happen, and I probably see about 50 drug screens a week.

Q: How to get rid of a migraine?
I got a really bad one, and I’ve tried everything. I got a massage, which helped temporarily, but then it started again. I’ve tried hot/cold packs, took naproxen, relpax, and morphine, it still wont go away! Anything that might work? Please!
I’m not exaggerating, my mom gave me some from when she was in the hospital. Only 6 mg. :s
But thanks for the answers guys, :)

A: You did not try morphine. Stop exaggerating if you want answers. Having sex works wonders for a migraine. It releases endorphins and counteracts headaches. I’ve cured many of headaches and some of my own with my rod of medicine.

Q: Has anyone had serious headaches that were treated successfully?
I have had headaches for about 5 years. I have to lay down and take medicene to relieve them, which screws everything up. They seem to come more frequently during inclement weather. They are always on my right side of my head and usually start with pain and swelling inside the right nostril. There is pain behind the eye and along the right “temple” between the eye and above the cheek. I am thinking these may be the result hitting my head and/or infection from a deviated septum. Allergy testing has not been very definite. Brain scan and CT scan are normal. I just started taking buuterbar and reducing sugar intake again, but dietary restrictions have never stopped the serious headaches. For prevention, I completely stopped dairy for about 2 years or more, tried low fat, low protein, fishoil, vitamins, antihistamines, a beta-blocker (nadalol), decongestants, and nasal irrigation. After attacks begin: high and cold packs, Relpax (tryptan), roll on jell, magnets. Thanks. Reward for success.

A: My migranes were initially treated successfully with the medicine known as “Inderol”. Over the years, I’ve had to switch to a different antihypertensive and dropped the Inderal. Have not had a typical migrane in years. I do occasionally have the visual aura that used to signal the onset of the ghastly pain of a migrane, but it is no longer followed by the pain. The wierd visual effects pass within about twenty minutes.
There is a lot of evidence suggesting that many headaches, and not just migranes, are a common symptom of high blood pressure, so the first thing many doctors will do is evaluate the headache sufferer for hypertension. Unfortunately, that is not the cause in every case, so causes have to be determined on an individual basis. Worst of all, sometimes it is not possible to pinpoint and therefore treat the exact cause – and there may be more than one factor leading to headache – so the only thing that can be done is symptomatic relief. It’s a pain in the butt as well as in the head, no? Good luck!

Q: Relieving Migraines what do I take?
I have had migraines since I have been around 16 years old. I also had one seizure around that time also but they could never figure out why I had a seizure. It seems the only thing that takes the headache away is a prescription called Relpax. I have taken all the others headache meds with no relief but the Relpax is 126.00 for 6 pills, so is there something else that would ease my headaches? I no longer have insurance.

A: wow that’s a lot of money…have you tried tremadol aka ultram? that works pretty well (get some anti-nausea meds too if it makes you feel sick). I’d talk to your doctor about getting some meds that prevent migraines. For now you can take advil then two hours later take tylenol then alternate it like that as needed (no more than 4,000 miligrams of tylenol in 24 hours and no more than 12 advils in 24 hours). Good luck (you may want to ask your doctor about a muscle relaxors too, since migraines often make your head feel “tight”)

Q: Are there treatments that target the aura associated with migraines? Would preventative therapy help?
As far as I know, treatments like Relpax are designed only to treat the pain associated with the migraines…Can anything be done to prevent the aura??
Jezzybell24: auras are non-visual or visual disturbances that sometimes precede migraines.
Rick P: I didn’t know that they were associated with seizures. Interesting :-) . Thanx.
Thanx very much W W D. I have indeed been taking them at the onset of the headache instead of when the aura begins. This helps as my next neurologist appointment is not scheduled for another couple weeks…
Thanx for sharing that Lake Lover. I get waves of nausea, dizzy spells, and often see little black dots.

A: I think you misunderstand. The triptan drugs are for treatment of the migraine; they’re not analgesics. These abortive drugs are best used at the aura, and work less well if you wait until the headache is well-established. Of course, if you have enough migraines to warrant it, preventive therapy using something like propanolol or perhaps an antidepressant on a daily basis may cut back considerably on the number you have to deal with, either the aura or the headache, and are a consideration.

Q: I work in a computer lab and have a migraine. Doesn’t that suck?
I took Relpax AND vicodin because I also have a tension headache, a broken rib, and some back pain (along with some neck pain from a whiplash-like injury to my neck and head about a year and a half ago).

Will you kiss the boo boo’s on my brain?
Germs?? EW GERMS!! KEEP ‘EM AWAY!!!

A: That depends. Would you sue me for the possible brain damage that would occur from getting my germs all over your frontal lobes?

Q: have constant migraine, does’nt go away unless meds are taken, then comes right back after they wear off,Help!?
going on 3 years in a row, always comes same time of year, i get a migraine that last about a month,im taking Relpax and it works until it wears off then it hurts all over again. relpax is expensive with no insurance, anyone have any remedies or suggestions on what is causing this headache in the first place. ive done ice packs, massages, chiropractor nothing seems to b working.

A: The headaches are caused by tight muscles in your neck and once they are released the pains will be gone. You are right, there isn’t much that can touch these pains as they are pretty intense. The chiropractor didn’t help because that was for the bones and did nothing for the muscles. Here is what you can do to release the muscles in your neck to get rid of the pain:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your head. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. After 45 seconds, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
With your neck in the lowered position, replace your thumbs in under the ears and your fingers behind your head but right next to your skull this time. Press your fingers and thumbs together again and hold. Relax your body while waiting. When the muscles have all released, slowly lift your head until it’s level again, release the pressure but hold your head like that for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.
Because this has been going on for so long not all the muscles are likely to release with just one try at them so if any pain remains after the release try it once more to get those that didn’t release.
