Q: Distressing symptoms of migraine….?
Some migraines have unusual symptoms, such as loss of vision in one eye, has anyone encountered these, and have they hindered your lifestyle?

A: I used to suffer from migraine and my most distressing symptoms were feeling nauseous without actually vomiting dizziness and an arc of dancing zigzag lights thatt gradually grew from a small spot. They didn’t hinder my lifestyle because I refused to let them!!

By the way, my migraines were caused by my contraceptive pill.Changing to a different method of contraception really made the difference, as my migraines have gone!!

Q: What’s wrong with me? Symptoms: Migraine, throwing up,…?
Stomach flu possibly?

A: Pregnant ??????

Q: I’m in the Navy and I’ve had a headache for the past 2 days. It fits migraine symptoms.Should I go to medical?
It started yesterday morning and its been a constant throbbing and hasn’t ceased at all. I’m about to finish Apprentice Technical Training on friday assuming everything stays on schedule. I have heard that if I even go into medical saying I’ve had this headache they will diagnose me for migraines and medically separate me. But I have also heard that if I go they will do nothing but give me some drugs. Both of which aren’t to great in my opinion. Problem lies in the fact that I have a terrible time focusing since it started.
Do I go to medical and risk getting separated or just grit my teeth and keep going and hope it gets better rather than worse?

A: You need to go to medical. If it is a very serious medical condition, they will find and treat it. If it is no big deal, they will give you some Motrin. Either way, it is in your best interest. If it does turn out to be something serious, it will be best to catch it early. If your car was acting really funny, wouldn’t you take it to a mechanic?

Q: Weird symptoms=Some nausea, migraine!!!, eye pain, stiff neck, chills/cold sweats, fatigue. Sudden onset.?
Monday afternoon, as I was leaving work, I experienced all of the symptoms above (nausea, migraine, eye pain, stiff neck, cold chills/clammy feeling, fatigue). It continued through Wednesday morning. It’s Thursday and I feel better, but am having stomach issues (aka not regular… :-/ )

The previous week, we were on vacation at the beach for an entire week. Sunday morning, I started a new pack of birth control pills, and took them about 2-3 hours later than the previous month because I had to pick them up at the pharmacy on Sunday morning. (And I’m married and old.)

Everyone always tells me “You’re Pregnant”. If that is the case, I would have about 1287 kids by now.

I’m not throwing up or anything, just feel pukey.

The worst pain of all was the migraine.

What gives? (Trying to decide whether to bother my doctor or tough it out.)

A: your symptoms describe the flu but due to the vacation i wouldn’t rule out bad water or lyme disease

Q: Can you have a migraine that returns about the same time everyday?
Everyday between 3:30-4pm and onward… I get these awful headaches that have all the symptoms of migraines. Is it common for migraines to reoccur at same times of teh day?

A: It’s possible that you could have recurrent migraines that keep coming back at the same time of the day, if you have a trigger that you keep encountering at that time of day. For example, my migraine trigger is heat, so in the summer if I am out and about I know I will get one in the afternoon if I don’t make an effort to stay very cool. Before I knew I had migraines, I used to get a headache every afternoon after classes, that lasted the rest of the day into the night, and I couldn’t figure out why. Finally got diagnosed with migraines, and now I know.

Try keeping a headache diary – record what time you get your headaches, what you’re doing, what you’ve been eating/drinking, etc. After a week or two, look back on your entries and see if you can find a pattern, aside from the time of day. Is it a certain number of hours after you’ve eaten? Did you eat something right before? Are you drinking enough water? Are you in the car? On the subway? Walking? All of these things are important to note, because if you/your doctor can make a connection between what’s going on every time you get a headache, it will be easier to determine what KIND of headaches you’re having (migraines, tension, cluster, sinus, dehydration, etc.)

Good luck!

Q: Migraine headaches and these symptoms now what would you do?
Migraine headaches and these symptoms now what would you do?
Okay I am going to the doc but if you have an experience here I would appreciate you input so thank you in advance for your time.

I have migraines but lately I have been having them more than usual and now my head has been hurting everyday…it not always a migraine it feels, it feels like a vice grip from around my head, temples, lower part of the head and now is going down into my neck. If I move to much the pressure gets bad, its like I can feel my own pulse in my head but its pounding instead of a normal feeling….pressure etc.

I am in-line for a CT scan today but I dunno if the doctors will listen this doesn’t feel normal and I am worried.

I haven’t been to the doctor in almost five years and I have had 4 visits in a month now and I think my doctor is chalking it up to anxiety but who knows.

Any experience with this kind of head pain? and whats your advice just curious if others have gone through it.

A: i wld def go to ur doc and get the CT scan done. my hubby used to have migraines as a child and then they dissapeared. then out of the blue he was hit by one a few mths ago. he could hardly speak and was in a lot of pain. he literally couldnt move out of bed. it was very scary to watch. the doc prescribed quite a few different meds to try. i think the thing with migraines is nipping them in the bud before the visual disturbances start – the zig zagging and all.

Q: do you think that’s still MIGRAINE if you don’t have ALL of the symptoms?
What do you think?

One sided headache with a throbbing pain that lasts about three days or more (the first being the most painful). A very localized pain that sometimes connects with the neck and eye. It gets worse with movement and efforts.

No nausea, no vomiting, no photophobia, no phonophobia.

I already went to the doc, an on duty doctor, he told me it’s possibly a migraine. He said I should see my family doctor to keep track of it and have a more accurate diagnose. He told me that I might be asked to keep a diary about the headaches.
I don’t drink coffee. I have a healthy diet and I excercise 3 times a week. That means aerobic excercise and pilates.

A: There is a new development in migraine therapy:

Q: Why do doctors blow you off if you complain of headaches and you don’t have all the symptoms of a migraine?

A: because you are a woman. Change doctors. Unfortunately women’s health is really in their own hands. I’ve learned this the hard way. My mother had the exact same thing happen as your situation. She was practically crippled with migraines for the first 40 years of her life. Every time she went to the doctor he asked her how her marriage was and “what was bothering her?” She finally ended up in the emergency room after an optical migraine and was referred to a specialist. Right away she was diagnosed with migraines and put on a hormone treatment and given imitrex. It’s sad, but she was in her 40s before she was allowed to live life without severe pain….all because a doctor thought she was a whinny little girl.

Q: What are these symptoms of? 101 fever, neusea/vomiting, migraine, bodyaches?

A: Sounds like the flu. I hope you get to feeling better soon.

Q: Is this a migraine or just a normal headache?
Usually twice a year i get a really bad headache, see lines floating about, and feel nauseous. Last time this happened I was at a restaurant with florescent lights (they really bother my eyes because they are sensitive to lights) and I had the same symptoms. Are these migraines or just normal headaches because of my eyes being sensitive to light? If this is a migraine how do i treat it?

A: if you’re nauseous and sensitive to light and it only happens a few times a year- it’s probably a migraine.

honestly, if you can, just get to a dark, quiet, cool room, and lay down. Hide in bed until it passes. Ice packs on your head for 20 minutes at a time help, and maybe some Excedrin migraine or ibuprofen will help.

If it’s extreme, go to the ER and get an Imitrex. However, I get theses frequently and they pass in about 12-48 hours.

Good Luck :)

A: Go to a neurologist who specializes in headaches or, as in the case with my doctor, a primary care physician who actually gets migraines.

There are many different kinds of headaches and migraines.

His suggestion to keep a diary is not a bad one. You might be able to identify something you are eating or drinking that is bringing these on.

One tip my doctor gave me: drink coffee. It has helped tremendously. Also, Excedrin Migraine is good, but you have to take it when the headache first appears to come on.

Q: could these be symptoms of a mild migraine
Yesterday I felt a little detached, with very slight blurred vision, irritable and tired. A bit later I felt sick for about an hour, just before i went to bed. Whilst I was in bed just dozing off I felt what I can only describe a a “pop” in my head which sounded a little like a gun going off. My mum said it sounded like a mild migraine, something I have never suffered from. Could this be what it was? Has anyone else who suffers from these relate to this?

A: yes they are classic symptoms of a migraine, with disassociation.
disassociation can also be linked with anxiety and depression, are you particularly worried about anything, cause in turn that can cause migraine……. vicious circle

Q: Migraine? Whats the symptoms..?
First one to answer gets 10 points

A: Really depends on the migraine.
Usually it’s main symptom is a horrible painful headache that won’t go away. From there, you can have sensitivity to sound, light or other things. Normally, it’s the type of headache that immobilizes you. Anything more than that, use google.

Q: Migraine during early pregnancy?
I am 8 weeks pregnant, and had a killer migraine today. I’ve been a migraine sufferer for over 15 years, but the websites I see say to notify your doctor if the headache lasts more than a few hours. Typically my migraines would last 6-8 hours before pregnancy, and this is no different now. The migraine symptoms were the same as pre-pregnancy. Should I be alarmed?

A: I started having migrains since i was 14…my doctor gave me the occasional tylenol which never really help anyways. i was later put on some other medication which was better. it stoped coming as frequent as before and now that im pregnant it started again. its to the point where my eyes puff up. i went in and they put me on floricet. i feel much better when i take it. dont sit and suffer just see your doctor..goodluck.

Q: what are the symptoms of migraine?

A: A Migraine unfortunately is real. Extreme sensitivity to high pitched sounds or even letters spoken like the letters V, Z, A. Instead of hearing the letter it will ring and screech in your ear! Constant tightening of the face or temple muscles, ringing in the ears. Throbbing for many hours in a row. Flashes of light in front of your eyes like you might see with some lightning really fast. Sensitivity to Bright *especially florescent lights and headlights from cars flashed in your eyes. The image OF that light blob stays like a double image in your field of view for like many seconds afterward. All these are called Auras. I had them all from 1998-to this day but luckily found the Diamond Headache Clinic in Chicago. There were people there *including myself that had to lay in a dark room or wear sun glasses even indoors due to the bright lights hurting the eyes. A jet flying over?! oh man, I sometimes had to put cotton in my ears to dampen sounds while having a really bad bout. If you have these types of Migraines I urge you to find a place near you much like the Diamond Headache Clinic that specializes in Headache/relief. These are mostly over active nerve cells in the brain. They won’t hurt you or kill you, and tend to normalize when you get older. Medications vary and so do methods to relive them. I was on a Migraine floor for 8 days hooked up to IV’s with anti-inflammatory and muscle relaxers. Others had to inject themselves with a needle/shot of Norflex or muscle relaxers the second they had an aura. I was lucky enough to respond to prescription pills after day 6. Presently My Doctor is studying Botox to relax the face/head muscles. Costs too much and is experimental, but does show some promise. When there, My roommate was an older guy with cluster migraines. They asked me if it was OK that my roomy be this type of patient. ??? Fine I said, how did I know what they were. Well 3 times a day at almost the exact times the poor SOB would begin screaming and fall to the floor to grab the Oxygen mask on the wall to suck O2 and the nurses would bring a Narcotic injection for him. For like 20 minutes each time he would roll and writhe in bed in horrible pain. After that he would recover. He told me it was like a red hot needle going through his eyeball into the back of his brain. Needless to say, I got no sleep the whole 8 days. He got better and was released a month later they told me at one Doctor visit. He comes from NC every great once and awhile when they start getting that bad. So, you can see that they are not just mild headaches. Toughest thing to watch were the little kids with these. They would sit and hug their Cat or small Dog* they were allowed to have these, OR stuffed animal for comfort. Poor little things. Funny thing is, me petting an animal helps calm my head too. It is a life stopping problem and should be taken care of. Thanks to all the Great Doctors, Nurses and People of the Diamond Headache clinic in Chicago, I can function again. Good luck, hope you don’t have Chronic Migraines.
